Birth certificates are the primary documents used to establish identity. The Center for Health Statistics has birth and death records dating from 1903, marriage records from 1906, and divorce certificates (not decrees) from 1925.

The Oregon Center for Health Statistics can issue certified copies of birth certificates. The office has birth records dating from July, 1903. Access to birth records is restricted for 100 years to the registrant, immediate family members, legal representatives, and individuals with special licenses.
